Q: Are the classes video or audio?

A: • The classes themselves are live audio recordings… as if you are participating in the class yourself.

• The classes are in mp3 format so you can immediately download them into your computer, burn a cd or put them into your ipod/mp3player.

• The videos that you’ll have access to are so you can learn how to do the somatics exercises for your best result.

Q: Why not videos?

A:Each one of us moves uniquely according to our build, weight, compensations, and limitations… so it doesn’t make sense for you to try try to do what someone else can, when your capacity or frame is different from someone else.

This is how most people hurt themselves, anyway. You see someone do a movement and they you “try” to copy them without first having the ability to move easily and comfortably. So it’s best to follow along at your own rhythm and pace. You’re finding a way which best serves you.

Q: How often should I do the exercises?

A: You have a 72 hour window where your brain will remember what it has learned… but just like any healthy animal, they practice for a few minutes every day so it’s up to you to find what works for you.

Q: How long are the classes?

A: The classes are 45 minutes to an hour in length.

Q: What will the classes cover?

A: You’ll learn how to … change your brain’s out put to the muscles through these extraordinarily easy ways of movement. In the class you’ll be verbally guided and asked to move, or move with your intention, even to the point of just imagining the movement… so that it’s always comfortable for you. You’ll be led through a series of patterns and each one builds with each lesson asking you to differentiate along the way. This way you’ll continue to progress your brain and body along the way.

Q: Do I have to do an entire class?

A: That’s up to you. You work at your own pace and you can do these for 5 minutes at a time if this is all you can do. As you master the movements, you may only need a short period of time to release a specific pattern. As with many things in life the more this is practiced the greater the benefit…

Q: What if I don’t feel like exercising or am too limited at the moment?

The good news is that you never have to do it with your body, you can just listen and imagine doing the movements so your brain will take care of it for you. That’s why this is so easy, it requires no effort other than pushing play and listening and following along as easily as you can. No strain, all gain.

Q: What are the Somatics Exercise classes all about?

A: The classes are designed to help you help yourself learn how to effectively manage and eliminate your physical pain, recover from injury, rebalance your muscles and reset how your brain sends messages to your muscles.

Once the output is changed and the pain is gone, you’ll have the tools which will foster your self-care so you can prevent or reverse your accidental pains in the future. You’ll know what to do for yourself.

Q: Why Somatics Exercises and not some other exercise program?

A: First, Somatics specifically deals with and targets the process of resetting your muscles through your brain’s pathways which no other exercise program does… even stretching can’t reset your muscles like the brain process you’ll learn for yourself.

The reset mechanism can be changed through a cortical process which has to be specific and intentional and it’s available to each one of us at whatever level you currently are.

Q: How fast will the changes takes place?

A: Immediately your brain will make the changes “if” you nail the process… and that’s what I’m going to teach you how to do for yourself.

I’ll just guide you along and you’ll self-correct and witness how fast your brain does make the changes.

Typically one will experience an increase in range of motion right away as well as decreased level of pain. However, some injuries or chronic conditions may need more time to correct themselves incrementally to reinforce the changes you are making.

Q: What if I have a history of pain and compensations?

A: I’ll repeat the good news… You don’t have to the do the exercises, you just need your mind to act as if you are doing them and your brain will handle the details. Now if you have a longer history of compensations and issues, then your road back may take a little longer since you are first de-compensating your movement software ( i.e. how you have been moving) and then you’ll be adding in a movement software update.. so while there may be some bugs along the way, your brain will fix them as you continue with the improving the process and witnessing how you sense yourself in the process.

You’ll just get better with practice and in no time, your brain will easily make the chemicals of relaxation and comfort… then you’ll just be able to relax when someone says to… your brain has been practicing and now you’ll just let go easily, effortlessly as if you knew it all along…

Q: Will these exercises help with my neck, back, hips, knees, hands, feet, leg, eyes, etc.?

A:Yes! Somatics views the body globally as a whole working unit, and as such all parts can be helped whether through direct or indirect focus. In fact, it’s not unusual to experience an improvement in a different part of your body. When you sign up for classes online you will be able to choose the area of focus which most suits your current needs. You’re going to explore various parts of your body and the entire body so you’ll know how you can improve your self as time moves on… after all your not just a series of pieces… you’re one whole being.

Q: When is the best time to do Somatics?

A: That’s completely up to you since it downloads right onto your computer… you can do somatics whenever it suits you. You can wake up and start your day with a series of movements to feel relaxed and flexible and ready to go.You can enjoy somatics at night to relax yourself for sleep. You can choose to do somatics in preparation to increase performance in whatever activity you have planned. …just like driving to a weekly class, with your membership you won’t have to drive and you can play the class as often as you’d like. Save gas, save time, increase your learning and get the results you want at the pace that works best for you.

Q: Can anyone do the movements?

A: Yes, Somatics Exercise are for all abilities and generally suitable for ages 12 and up, though younger children have enjoyed the movements, though the slow pace may not suit them. If you’re injured or incapacitated, you’ll be able to join in since one of the options is just to do the movements either in your mind’s eye, visually, or just moving toward the hint of the directions you will be guided in. So even if you don’t want to do the movements, you can just lie there and listen and you’ll receive the benefits.

Q: How difficult are the movements?

A: The movements are simple, natural, easy movements and in time you will learn how to coordinate all your limbs so you move as easily as you ever have, and most likely, better than you ever have. None of the movements should be “difficult” causing you to strain.. but you might be pleasantly amused in finding new ways to move yourself comfortably.
