Feel More Relaxed & Comfortable

How this Gets Results

Personal hands-on body work and movement coaching sessions are tailored to your individual needs, circumstances, concerns and conditions.

Your comfort is key and your safety is assured with our gentle approach which restores comfort in your body, relaxes the mind and brings back control so you can get on with your life.

Hands-on Bodywork

The hands-on bodywork is designed to help shift the brain, body and nervous system to more relaxed states so you can feel comfort returning.

At the same, proper neuromuscular function is gained.

Your muscles and fascia (which surrounds the muscles) are part of your movement system.

The muscles-fascia-tendons-ligaments-and-bones connection is completed by the one big muscle, the brain and how it gives signals to the nervous system along its lines of communication.

Discomforting signals from all sorts of pain types, conditions, stiffness, stress and tension tone down and go away as you & your entire movement system feels comfortable and under your control.

Movement Coaching

After the hands-on bodywork is completed, You Will Know How To Do the 3 Simple Steps.

You will be given the tools and you will be guided through an individualized set of easy to do movements, known as somatics exercises.

This is the complete reverse to regular exercise since these are brain based gentle movements designed to get the results you want.

The movements you do are based upon what is found in the hands-on body work and will further help your personal circumstances improve.

How a Personal Session Works

Step 1

First - Review your personal health history.  You fill out a 1 page health history form.  This may be done before the initial appointment.

Second - We'll talk about your history and personal circumstances so we both know what goals and results you want.

Third - Standing postural evaluation to determine any compensations, holding patterns or predominate nervous system clues.  Then we'll discuss those observations.

Next: If needed, we'll do a walking analysis.

Next: On table assessment.  Similar to the standing posture assessment, now we'll see how or what your nervous system or compensations do while lying down.

Next: Tension Check. We'll make sure you are as comfortable as possible.  Then I'll begin to gently mobilize parts of your body to determine if the nervous system is holding onto un-necessary tension or has the ability to let go of any holding tension.

All the above gives us a Starting Point to determine what course of action will be needed and necessary.

Step 2 Hands on Bodywork

Now we'll begin a co-partnership of checking certain movement patterns and neurological clues based upon what we've found from above.

My hands will be on your fully clothed body in order to guide it safely well within your comfortable range of motion.  This way you may be able to feel how certain parts of yourself move - without you doing any movement.

This will prepare your brain and body and it will help loosen restrictions at certain levels.

In the next part and throughout the rest of the session, you will be safely guided to do a gentle movement so you can begin to feel how your body responds and how you can self-adjust and release tension, stiffness or pain.

All of the above will help determine the next step.

Step 3 Movement Coaching

This is designed to further the hands-on bodywork and give you the tools you need to feel better and keep it that way yourself.

Based upon what we've found from above, you'll be expertly coached in the 3 Step Method.

Then you'll do 1 - 3 gentle movement patterns.

You will learn how to change your nervous system's response so you can move with greater ease, comfort, awareness and cohesion.

You'll know exactly what to dohow to do them and when or how often.

This will provide you with a custom set of movement combinations, tailored to fit your needs.

Step 4 On Your Own

You will receive an audio recording of your personal set of movements so you can practice at home so you can remain comfortable for life.

You will get a set of guidelines to serve as reminders of how, why and how often.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.

  • q-iconWhat should I wear?

Any loose, comfortable clothing. Though you can come straight from work, or your favorite activity in any attire you feel comfortable in.

  • q-iconHow many sessions will I need?

That depends upon your personal health history, circumstances and goals and results you want.

Typically, 3 – 5 sessions or less when combined with our movement programs.

  • q-iconIs this like physical therapy?

The hands-on work is a complete reverse to physical therapy since we are targeting a specific part of the brain to communicate with your muscles and movement system.  Since the brain is a delicate instrument, the bodywork is designed to work well within your comfort zone where you are in control.

The movement(s) you will learn are unlike regular exercise or stretching.  They are easy, simple conscious movement patterns, or as some people call them — micro-movements -where you learn how to feel certain connections so the brain can relax the muscles while at the same improving their ability.

  • q-iconHow does this compare to massage?

Like a massage, many people will feel surprisingly more relaxed and comfortable even though you were active rather than passive in a massage.

Plus, you will get specific movement(s) tailored to suit your circumstances which reinforces the bodywork.

This way you’ll know exactly what to do to help further your goals and results

  • q-iconHow long is a session and why?

Generally, an initial session can be 90 minutes long or longer depending upon your circumstances.

As we get to know each other and you become more comfortable with the process (described above), then a session can be done in 60 minutes.

These sessions are done in a non-hurried manner so your brain and body can incorporate and integrate what your are feeling and learning.

  • q-iconWhat kinds of pain, stiffness or injuries does this help?

For general stiffness, aches and injuries, this will help ease tension levels, reduce the stress and help you heal more quickly.

There are any number of pain types where either the structure is part of the problem or the brain has gone haywire or both and it keeps producing painful sensations where the nervous system can feel like it is going over the edge, getting hammered from the same place, amplified or more sensitive than most people would think normal (though it’s quite normal if you’re living with it).

See the list below for a complete though not exhaustive list.

Ed has over 15 years of experience, helping people find natural pain relief through hands-on body work and somatics exercises which are the complete reverse to most approaches.

Essentially it's motor control exercises (MCE), mindful-based stress reduction (MBSR) and progressive relaxation all rolled into one which now the American College of Physicians (ACP) are saying is "the first thing to do relieve pain".

We use conscious gentle body movements that targets the brain’s motor cortex to reset the nervous system back to comfort and along the way you get into deeper states of relaxation.

This leads to a healthy, fully-functional body.

Muscle range of motion, recovery, relaxation and control are restored by this "alternative to exercise” approach; plus it's natural pain relief that actually works!
