Does this sound familiar?
Dale works a desk job. In his mid 50’s his weight is OK. He’s somewhat active, but is “feeling his age.”
He’s not thrilled about it.
He winces when gets up out of a chair. He’s been feeling stiff where his joints ache. And his neck and shoulders are generally tight.
He’s a bit exasperated that it’s getting tougher to tie his shoes.
If you knew someone like that. Would you tell them to?
“Try harder. Stretch! Stretch! Ya gotta Stretch!”
See, I used to think that way too. And boy was I wrong.
This kind of advice isn’t the worst thing you can tell Dale. But that’s not the chief problem.
The muscles are not at fault.
Whatever Dales does, he’s stiff and can’t get longer by stretching. Reason is. The obstacle is not the muscles (and his age too!).
The thorn is in his brain.
His brain has forgotten how to “feel” certain parts of his body. This happens due to a lifetime of unconscious movement.
So the brain starts to get used to losing this awareness. It can no longer successfully move the muscles in certain ways.
Our brains will all do this if left un-tended.
But, if we remind the brain how to “sense differences”, then positive sensations can happen.
Our brain’s cortex can begin to be aware of the information it needs to change the body.
Plus, this helps our ability to think, feel, and move freely once again… just like we did in our youth.
Let me show you how easy, gentle simple movements can give your brain this new ability. And it can happen super fast!
And without pills either.
A Brain-Body Blowing Experience
Sitting crossed legged can be difficult or painful. Even if one has had this ability to say meditate and sit this way for years. But sometimes change happens and we lose it.
In my case, I couldn’t ever do it.
No matter all the yoga, stretching, tai chi. And tons of therapy. I still felt tight, stiff and achy.
Then on account of a knee accident where I couldn’t even bend my knee fully. Or straighten the leg.
I was blown away when simple, conscious movement gave me back not only a wonderful range of motion. My pains went away. And I got to move better than before.
And here I was aging like the rest of us.
See, we are one living system. When you desire to improve. You can address all aspects of yourself.
The brain can organize and re-organize to a higher skillful level of movement, thinking, feeling, and emotional well-being.
So, if you want to improve your body’s ability to bend over, sit cross legged or tie your shoes.
It is vital to bring the whole body into actions to where the remarkable brain can heal, learn and grow.
We’ve all got the capability right now! It’s just a matter of accessing the brain.
Say you strive at ’trying’ to bend over. Improvement may be limited. And in the process, we might begin experiencing pain.
See, you have to do a wide variety of easy, gentle movements which includes all of the body. Becoming aware of the entire body. And how it feels to move is key.
Then as the brain perceives differences. It can integrate more parts of your entire self so improvements can be fast. And you end up with a wonderful (and uncommon) awesome change.
Changing the Brain Changes Pain
Living with chronic pain?
Dealing with increasing aches and stiffness?
Recovering from injury?
This can be reversed. The brain and your body has the ability to relieve pain.
Neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, foot, joint, etc. And problems with repetitive movements. Can all change to a state of harmony, ease, and pleasure. Plus, higher performance too!
An Improved Brain Leads to Higher Levels or Peak Performance
Doing simple conscious movements. Brain functions improve.
You’re not changing behavior. You upgrade the brain so it has greater skills.
A better skilled brain can perform at peak ability. See, any skill needs to be refined by tweaking it to increase the wonderful complexity a brain can have.
With a more skilled brain. Positive changes can happen in many aspects of our lives that otherwise may not stand a chance.
So Yes! Doing simple movement can heal. Injuries from past and present. The aches, pains and tension of daily life can reach or move to new levels of performance no matter your ability.
The brain can quickly and pleasurably change to new heightened levels of awareness. Where creativity, ease in the body and mind too can happen.
Age has got nothing to do with a decline.
Improved Brain Function leads to Joy and Enthusiasm
Does everyday seem like every other one?
Do your dreams or desire no longer matter?
Getting in a rut is easy.
Doing simple conscious movement wakes up the brain. Life feels revitalized. And we can see new possibilities with the energy to check them out.
√ Better relationships, an increase in fitness and well-being.
√ Better levels of health.
√ More energy which can feel like a new lease on life.
Science shows us that we can change the brain.
We can move forwards to reboot at a physical-mental-emotional level.
And experience life with higher levels of energy, enthusiasm and performance.
I don’t know about you, but that is certainly what I want!
So if you want to discover or are keen into learning how your brain and body can work together to:
√ Reverse muscular stiffness,
√ Reset tension levels,
√ Lower stress,
√ Help Feel More Relaxed,
√ Ease Pain,
√ Age Better,
√ and Increase Awareness!
Introducing your teacher
Edward Barrera is a Hanna Somatic Educator. You can think of this as neurophysiology in action. Or how the brain and movement produces positive change.
Ed lived with Fibromyalgia/chronic pain in his 20’s and 30’s. So he knows the long road out. And loves to help people short cut it.
For over 20 years, Ed has helped thousands of people from chronic pain to athletes feel better at both the physical and mental level.
Ed has written 2 books which help clarify and make it easier to understand the neurophysiology and neural plasticity approach to rehab.
He continues to marvel and witness the success people have in overcoming pain, stiffness, tension, stress. As well as helping other high level performers get back in the game.
And for fun, he is a U.S. National Senior Soccer Champion.
Where he keeps testing the method only to be reminded how grand the brain the truly is.
His greater joy is helping people move beyond limitations to change to our magnificence.
Set Free the Power of The Brain
Much like going to a neighborhood movement class. Ours is called The Classroom.
Where you learn to wake up the brain so it can uncover new, pain-free ways to move.
The Classroom is a series of classes which focuses on different areas in the body.
This helps to rewire the nervous system and connections in the brain so it successfully organizes basic and more complex movements.
Each gentle movement class is different so the brain forms new connections.
You first begin to explore the entire body in a progression of movements designed to grow the brain and enhance the body’s ability to move efficiently.
When done in this manner, you begin to gain better balance.
This leads to the freedom to do more of what you want.
You enable yourself to have better coordinated movement. Again so you can freely do what you want.
As pains and aches decrease. Breathing improves. As does thinking more clearly. And being more creative.
You learn how sitting feels better or easier.
Reaching, bending, twisting towards a confidence use of the muscles you can depend on.
As the progression of classes continues. Then we drill down and focus on specific parts as they relate to the entire whole body.
Got you covered: the back, hips, neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms… and even the face and jaws too. You got it. You can get the brain to improve all areas.
