Does this sound familiar?

Dale works a desk job.  In his mid 50’s his weight is OK.  He’s somewhat active, but is “feeling his age.”

He’s not thrilled about it.

He winces when gets up out of a chair.  He’s been feeling stiff where his joints ache.  And his neck and shoulders are generally tight.

This kind of advice isn’t the worst thing you can tell Dale.  But that’s not the chief problem.

The muscles are not at fault.

Whatever Dales does, he’s stiff and can’t get longer by stretching.  Reason is.  The obstacle is not the muscles (and his age too!).

The thorn is in his brain.

His brain has forgotten how to “feel” certain parts of his body.  This happens due to a lifetime of unconscious movement.

So the brain starts to get used to losing this awareness.  It can no longer successfully move the muscles in certain ways.

Our brains will all do this if left un-tended.

But, if we remind the brain how to “sense differences”, then positive sensations can happen.

Our brain’s cortex can begin to be aware of the information it needs to change the body.

Plus, this helps our ability to think, feel, and move freely once again… just like we did in our youth.

A Brain-Body Blowing Experience

Sitting crossed legged can be difficult or painful.  Even if one has had this ability to say meditate and sit this way for years.  But sometimes change happens and we lose it.

In my case, I couldn’t ever do it.

No matter all the yoga, stretching, tai chi.  And tons of therapy.  I still felt tight, stiff and achy.

Then on account of a knee accident where I couldn’t even bend my knee fully.  Or straighten the leg.

I was blown away when simple, conscious movement gave me back not only a wonderful range of motion.  My pains went away.  And I got to move better than before.

And here I was aging like the rest of us.

See, we are one living system.  When you desire to improve.  You can address all aspects of yourself

The brain can organize and re-organize to a higher skillful level of movement, thinking, feeling, and emotional well-being.

So, if you want to improve your body’s ability to bend over, sit cross legged or tie your shoes.

It is vital to bring the whole body into actions to where the remarkable brain can heal, learn and grow.

We’ve all got the capability right now!  It’s just a matter of accessing the brain.

Say you strive at ’trying’ to bend over.  Improvement may be limited.  And in the process, we might begin experiencing pain.

See, you have to do a wide variety of easy, gentle movements which includes all of the body.  Becoming aware of the entire body.  And how it feels to move is key.

Then as the brain perceives differences.  It can integrate more parts of your entire self so improvements can be fast.  And you end up with a wonderful (and uncommon) awesome change.
